"Streets" - 9/7/08

when I am away
from my streets too long
it hurricanes in my body
too hard to feel Gene Kelly-esque

angry cars rush by
in my veins without the beauty
I see when walking alongside
feeling their vibrations like ocean

instead in your absence (impatient roads)
my soul, craving, bursts upon itself
the colors I miss, the taxis near-kissing
the mica glittering, the freaks

punks, skaters, activists-with-clipboards
often you ask me do I have a moment (or a dollar)
and I always say yes there is nothing
like restlessness to feed

the urban heart
